Hey, who doesn't want a Blue Ray player? The DVD's have tons of awesome extra features like inlay menus, film stats and details while you're watching the movie, plus the standard DVD features like commentary and stuff. The picture is high-definition, which means the image quality is leaps and bounds above a standard DVD player and the sound has a greater depth as well. And, unlike the VCR to DVD (or Laserdisc to DVD) move, you can play your old DVD's on a Blue Ray player. The downside is that the player's run an average of about $800, and hell, $800 is a high price to pay to watch a really clear image of Lord Of The Rings. Luckily, it's price slashing time at Sony, and the BDP-5300 is down to $500! So, get on the High-Def trolley, because while DVD's were good, Blue-Ray is just better.
